It's the little things

OK, I really don't watch the new Knight Rider, but I passed by there briefly last night and hello Captain Jack Harkness reference! Sometimes I wonder how many people out there in the "real world" watch Torchwood and this kind of thing gives me hope. Of course it's also another sign that there are more geeks than we might know writing television.

Date: 2008-11-06 07:23 pm (UTC)I would guess probably... most? It's times like that when you know there are unrepentant geeks writing the show. They have to know it's a joke that won't have full potency for most of the audience, but they did it anyway.
On The Office (U.S.) the oddball sycophant character Dwight is a sci fi/fantasy geek, and occasionally they make Battlestar Galactica, Smallville, and other sci fi references, but even those probably aren't as obscure as Torchwood.
