I just found out that "tonto" is the Spanish word for idiot/fool.

That makes me really sad, and a little ill. I certainly can't believe it's just a coincidence.

Everyone knew about this but me, right?

I felt the same way as you when I realized that. I was hoping whoever named Tonto just didn't know, but that really doesn't make it better.
