Can you ask to be put into a medical coma as a, whatchamacalit, when it's not medically necessary?

BECAUSE I WANT TO BE KNOCKED OUT UNTIL IT'S NEXT WEEK.

And elective coma? SERIOUSLY. That would be nice. Maybe if all the Who fans got together they'd give a discount! (Well, I don't know about the NHS, but our insurance companies sure seem to be open to that kind of thing...)
