This is what some people do: they create for the love of it, and they share their creations out of love.
I heard a radio essay on This American Life recently on this subject, and I've been meaning to figure out how to write about it, because I identified with it so deeply. The act of creation is almost an end in itself, like meditation. And if the creating is done with a person (or, I'd add, a fandom) in mind, it's an act of love.
