But you're OK with girls watching science fiction TV shows, right?

OK, I know Primeval is just fluff, but that didn't keep me from actually shrieking aloud when Abby said, "Girls don't talk comics."

Uh yes, quite a few of them do. Some of them are pretty cute, too.

More importantly: hey, Hodges and Haines, HOW COULD YOU HAVE ABBY SAY THAT?! How many comic-reading young girls did you just make feel a smidgen more insecure about being themselves by that comment? You idiots.

Even more importantly: that's hardly even a real question. Wolverine, of course.

Oh, and about that reveal concerning Stephen and Helen: I called that weeks ago, but the truth is part of me thought it was the fan goggles.

I wonder if, to the writers, Abby fits into that "lots of girls want to be veterinarians" pigeonhole.

There was a bit in this season's Bones premiere, when Hodgins says he thought women secretly liked it when men fought over them and Cam's response was, "'Women' is an unacceptable generalization". I kind of wanted to hug my TV when she said that.

It gets a little odd sometimes, sorting out intended subtext from fannish subtext, doesn't it?

Ah, I know the pigeonhole you mean, I just wouldn't have thought herpetology would be part of it! You could be right, though. They needed a cute girl, they needed everyone to have some halfway plausible way to be related to dinosaurs, so the girl gets to be a vet.

Cam's response was, "'Women' is an unacceptable generalization".

I think I said, "Thank you!" out loud to my TV when she said that.
