Not just for [livejournal.com profile] donutsweeper

Happy National Doughnut Day everyone!

Even if you aren't in the US, I think you should still find a way to celebrate this very important holiday. Besides, what better time for the alien donuts to make trouble?

Dang. Now I NEED doughnuts!

Want some of my Nilla Cakesters? What was I thinking? I just wanted one, I'm never going to be able to eat the whole box. (It does seem like I should be eating True Donuts on Donut Day!)

I'd love the Cakesters! Could you e-mail 'em?

OH! That reminds me, the kids got the rabbits and they love them! It's been so crazy this week I forgot to post about it.

Yay! I just remembered I meant to include Firefly disc 4 in that package, too. Whoops.

::waves at Nona:: You can have some of my Cakesters too! :)

Nilla, mmmmm.

Ah, so Doughnut Day has fundraiser origins here as well! In Britain (I found out when theirs happened a month or two ago) they raise money for Children in Need. Or something. Now I can't find the information!

Oh, apparently those limey bastards get an entire week! National Doughnut Week is used as a fundraiser for a charity called The Children's Trust.

Between that and Children in Need and Red Nose Day (and on a more serious note, Make Poverty History), I've gained a new appreciation for how the Brits approach charitable giving.

I agree! I mean, we have our national telethons occasionally, but I don't think there's the level of involvement. I mean, for Red Nose Day the TV shows do special episodes, individual workplaces have special fundraisers and special events, schools get involved. It's pretty cool.
