I had not heard of this N&S myself until recently which is WRONG BAD WRONG. It did fairly well in the UK (and my fairly well I mean the fangirls broke the BBC's message board) but I guess it just didn't get the proper airing here it deserved or something. It probably doesn't help that the US DVD cover is boring, especially compared the the UK version.
Cranston, which is airing on Masterpiece Theatre currently (on my PBS station at least) is from the same author, Elizabeth Gaskell. Though it's more of a comedy.
I'm heartbroken by what Patrick Swayze is going though now; it's very hard to be optimistic about his diagnosis.
