More strappy boots and girls kicking butt please
So, they've wrapped up TSCC for now and I have, um, feelings about certain things, but the only person I know that's been watching it is
fan_eunice and she's been hoarding the last few episodes. Wah. Still, I want to write stuff down.
OK, first of all, this was too short! I needed at least a couple of more episodes. And as it wasn't a breakout hit and Fox doesn't give shows time to find their audiences, I think it is all too likely this is all we're going to get (though apparently some pundits feel the outlook isn't entirely pessimistic). There was good and there was ... annoying, but more than anything there was girls kicking butt, and that overruled a lot of the not so good.
I actually thought the religious stuff with Dr. Silberman and Agent Ellison was interesting and done pretty fairly, and also makes Ellison's name that much funnier (speaking of, did anyone else get a giggle out the the episode title "The Demon Hand"?). I mean, can you really have a story involving a predicted apocalypse without referencing the Christian concepts of Armageddon?
Hell yes, the boys are stuck outside and it's ABOUT TIME. *glee*
The idea that Sarah has never actually killed anyone? Kind of pissed me off, actually. In all those years, all the lengths she went to to protect John, she never killed anybody? Highly fucking unlikely and I really didn't like the potential implications.
Brian Austin Green: WTF is this with the acting that doesn't suck? It's creeping me out, man.
The girl from Carlos's neighborhood, I think her character's name is Chola, was kind of awesome.
More than anything, the whole thing just feels too young, too unrealized. Unfortunately, that's not entirely a function of how few episodes we've gotten; after all, we got one more hour than a lot of UK series, for instance. There could have been a lot more focus in the storylines, instead of bringing in entirely new plot points towards the end like they did. But I've thought for a long time that US TV could learn a lot from UK TV in that regard, and it's possible I'm getting unfairly biased.
