In which I revisit some of the geekier music moments of my youth

So, being the geek that I am, I'm trawling through music charts looking for good 1981 songs for Ashes to Ashes. I found way too much music that I like, and some that I'm really not ready to admit that I own. *facepalm* At least I'm young enough that I only have one of these on a 45. No, I'm not telling you which one.

"Romeo and Juliet" Dire Straits
"Tunnel of Love" Dire Straits
"In The Air Tonight" Phil Collins
"Another One Bites The Dust" Queen
"Under Pressure" Queen & David Bowie
"Imagine" John Lennon
"Happy Xmas (War is Over)" John & Yoko & the Plastic Ono Band
"Don't Stand So Close To Me" The Police
"Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" The Police
"Bette Davis Eyes" Kim Carnes
"You Better You Bet" The Who
"Don't You Want Me" Human League
"For Your Eyes Only" Sheena Easton
"Once In a Lifetime" Talking Heads
"Gloria" U2
"Fire" U2
"A Good Year for the Roses" Elvis Costello
"No Woman No Cry" Bob Marley and the Wailers
"Girls On Film" Duran Duran (I have to include it, really!)
"Tainted Love" Soft Cell
"Start Me Up" Rolling Stones

These are not confirmed as UK singles during 1981, except for "Kids In America" which I put in this second list because I love it but it would still be weird for a British show.
"Jessie's Girl" Rick Springfield
"Keep On Loving You" REO Speedwagon
"Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" Stevie Nicks & Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
"Who's Crying Now" Journey
"Morning Train" Sheena Easton
"Kids In America" Kim Wilde
"Too Much Time On My Hands" Styx
"Waiting For A Girl Like You" - Foreigner
"Young Turks" Rod Stewart
"Harden My Heart" Quarterflash

I have...some of those. *g* My friend Donna buys cheesy 80s music from Half Price Books, I snicker at her and tell her the 80s are over, been there, done that, she asks if we can listen to it in the car, and by the time we're back at my house, I'm all Can I borrow that for a second? and importing it into iTunes.

Ah, 1981, when I was 13 and mad at Mother for not letting me go see Queen live, so I taped their concert off the TV by putting it next to the TV speaker...

Good times!
