The weirdest thing about depression is how, the more you need help, the more unable you are to ask for it. I'm really not sure what the answer to that is.
As for creativity, I've seen a lot of people who get a diagnosis, start on medication, and immediately stop all writing/RPing/interacting with LJ/fannish activity. But they generally start other hobbies and get into this strange "having a real life" idea, and who can argue with that? I mean, who'd genuinely want their friends to continue to be miserable as long as they kept pumping out the fic?
