MY LIFE ACCORDING TO DUE SOUTH: Clickie! )
phoenix64: parker holding an orange and smiling (dS my fandom ain't heavy)
I'm a little hesitant about posting this, because I know there are two people likely to read this who are currently watching due South but haven't made it through to the end, and I really don't want them to read this before they've seen the finale.

Please, if I'm talking about you, resist temptation!

Thanks to the niftyness of [livejournal.com profile] wonkyinagoodway and [livejournal.com profile] lipstickcat and Tom Melissis we get to see a few pages of a draft script of "Call of the Wild" that are quite different from what was filmed. I think they are in fact quite interesting. *pets the Rays*

I also can't help but wonder if this is what Paul Gross wrote before he ate the mushrooms that must be responsible for the ending we got. Not that I don't have love for "Call of the Wild", but. Groovy, baby.

OK, I'm beginning to think I haven't truly appreciated the rubber duckies of due South. I knew about the ones in "Burning Down the House" and "Spy vs. Spy", but those were significant quantities of duckies. Now I'm watching the beginning of "Strange Bedfellows" where they psychiatrist and Thatcher are talking to Fraser about the inkblots, and on a shelf behind Fraser - a lone rubber ducky!

WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?!

Also, I watched "Some Like It Red" again recently and a) I never noticed before that on my DVD menu the title is actually misprinted as "Some Like It Hot" and b) does it at least partially pass the Bechdel test if one of the two women talking about something other than a man is actually a man in drag?

You really should read the funny and all too short (and sadly Chapter 2 has not actually arrived yet) dS/SGA crossover "Searching for Benton Fraser" by [livejournal.com profile] apetslife.

"Get that gun out of my face or I will kick you in the head."

As introductions go, this isn't actually the strangest that John Sheppard's ever heard, but it's close. The alarms had gone off, unauthorized entry through the gate. Shutdown the gateroom, yada yada, guns at the ready, yada. And then what had come through...

Edit: Now with an actual working link!

I couldn't help it - I read this and immediately thought of poor Fraser's childhood bully. Since they probably don't have otters in New Zealand, they have to use whatever's handy, right?

I'm going to assume that the hedgehog had already expired of old age before it was thrown. Lalalalalalalala.

OK, I've spent a good portion of the night mainlining due South vids, but you're not just getting this particular link because I really have to stop now and because I like "Dashboard" but because it's got some awesome editing: RayK vid at YouTube.

Netflix is finally carrying the due South DVD's. If you aren't already obsessed with this show, here's your chance.

A note on the "seasons": when it originally aired, what was the last season of the show was referred to as season 3 by U.S. broadcasters, though it consisted of the Canadian series 3 and series 4. In the years since then pretty much everybody refers to the show as having had 4 seasons. My Canadian DVD's are in two separate sets for seasons 3 and 4. But the season 3 DVD's that Netflix is carrying refer to the U.S. "season 3", and all the episodes are there.

Go. Watch. Fall in love. Avoid the Ray wars, because Fraser loved them all.
